Join us for an off-road review of the 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road, to see if the Tacoma has what it takes to do some actual offroading in the forests of New Hampshire.
The 2020 Tacoma TRD Off Road comes with several upgrades over the SR and SR5 trim levels, most notably a locking rear differential and off road tuned Bilstein suspension. There are also exclusive color options, a 110 power outlet in the bed, the Multi Terrain Select system, and Crawl feature.
While anyone looking for a basic off road capable vehicle to suit their offroading or overlanding hobbies could do much worse than the Tacoma TRD Off Road, most serious drivers will find that the few meaningful improvements are fairly simple and affordable upgrades. Particularly when comparing the base model SR Tacoma to the TRD Off Road and TRD Pro, it's important to know that they're almost exactly the same truck mechanically and that most of the upgrades are either simple mechanical add-ons, or really only cosmetic / comfort focused.
How will the 2020 Tacoma TRD Off Road handle some actual off road driving? you'll have to watch the video to find out, but spoiler alert: not as well as you'd think for a vehicle so prominently sporting the "Off Road" logos and branding.
